Cheltenham Open Data has published a new taxi ranks page, showing where to find a licensed taxi in town.

The page maps the ranks on the Promenade, Pittville Street and Montpellier Walk, and outside the Queen’s Hotel and Cheltenham Spa railway station, with the number of spaces where it is known and how far each rank is from the town centre.

FAQs

Where Does the Taxi Rank Data Come From?

  • Cheltenham Borough Council’s own taxi rank map and OpenStreetMap, combined into one list, with any ranks we have checked ourselves added.

What Is the Difference Between a Taxi and a Private Hire Car?

  • Taxis have a white “TAXI” roof light and can wait at ranks or be flagged down. Private hire cars must be booked in advance and can’t use ranks.

How Do I Get a Taxi During the Cheltenham Festival?

  • Book ahead where you can. If you haven’t booked, use an official rank or flag down a licensed taxi with a white “TAXI” roof light.

Is a Rank Missing?

  • If you know of a rank that isn’t on the map, let us know and we’ll check it and add it.
