Bin Collections in Cheltenham
Cheltenham Borough Council collects household waste on the same day every week, through its contractor Ubico. Food caddies are emptied every week. Recycling and the green general waste bin take turns: one week your green boxes and blue bag go out, the next week your green bin does. The council calls these Week 1 and Week 2, and this page shows which one it is.
Your own collection day, and whether your recycling goes out in Week 1 or Week 2, comes from the council’s postcode checker. Below you’ll find the coming weeks, what goes in each bin, bank holiday and Christmas changes and the garden waste service. For anything that doesn’t fit in your bins, our recycling page maps the town’s recycling banks and centres.
Week 1 and Week 2
The next eight collection weeks. Your collection day stays the same every week; whether your recycling or your green bin goes out depends on whether it's Week 1 or Week 2.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Do I Know if I'm Week 1 or Week 2?
- Enter your postcode in the council's collection day checker. It lists the dates for your recycling, green bin, food caddy and garden waste. Once you know whether your recycling falls in Week 1 or Week 2, this page shows which week it is.
What Time Should I Put My Bins Out?
- By 7am on your collection day. In weeks with a bank holiday, some areas are collected from 6am.
Where Can I Take Extra Rubbish or Recycling?
- Extra bags beside your bin aren't collected. Our recycling page maps the town's recycling banks and household recycling centres, and the council collects large items for a fee.
Why Doesn't This Page Show My Street's Day?
- The council only publishes collection days through its postcode checker, one address at a time, so we link to it rather than copy it.
