Ofsted Ratings and Inspection History for Every Cheltenham School

The latest Ofsted rating and full inspection history for 63 schools in and around Cheltenham.

Cheltenham Open Data now has an Ofsted page for 63 schools across GL50–GL54, linked from the schools in Cheltenham list.

Each page brings a school’s whole Ofsted record together: its latest report card or graded inspection, area by area, and every report Ofsted has published for it, with a link to each one. The schools list now shows each school’s latest Ofsted outcome too, so you can compare them at a glance.

FAQs

What Does Each School Page Show?

  • The school’s latest Ofsted outcome, how many reports are on record and since when, and its safeguarding judgement where it has a report card.
  • The grades for each area from its latest report card or graded inspection.
  • A table of every inspection, newest first, with the type of inspection, its outcome and a link to the full report.

Which Schools Are Included?

  • Every state school, special school and college in GL50–GL54 that Ofsted inspects, with new schools added as Ofsted inspects them.
  • Independent schools such as Cheltenham College, Cheltenham Ladies’ College and Dean Close are inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate rather than Ofsted, so they don’t have a page.

What Are Ofsted Report Cards?

  • Since November 2025, Ofsted has graded each area of a school’s work, such as inclusion, achievement, and attendance and behaviour, on a five-point scale from exceptional to urgent improvement, with safeguarding judged as met or not met. Older inspections gave a single overall grade: outstanding, good, requires improvement or inadequate.

Why Do Some Schools Show Reports Under a Different Name or Number?

  • When a school becomes an academy or merges with another, it gets a new reference number, and Ofsted files its earlier reports under the old one. The pages include those earlier reports so you can see the full history in one place.

Where Does the Data Come From?

  • From Ofsted’s inspection reports and its monthly management information on school inspections, with links between old and new schools from the Department for Education’s Get Information about Schools register.

How Often Is It Updated?

  • Once a month, so a new inspection report appears on the school’s page within a few weeks of Ofsted publishing it.
